Wood's Technology and Product service line (which includes Wood's process technology and equipment supply portfolio) is seeking to fill a role of significant accountability within our Products business. The role reports to the service line Vice President, and is a member of the global Technology and Products leadership team. The role will be based in our Hampton, NJ office. This role has full responsibility for operational delivery and P&L accountability for a multi-discipline team of approximately forty design, engineering, project, and procurement professionals. The Director of Operations supports the development and execution of the service line business strategy which includes differentiating our portfolio (including means to support our customers in their energy transition objectives) and enhancing competitiveness through delivery efficiency and supply chain optimization.
Key Accountabilities:
- Define, shape, drive and execute operational objectives to support short and long term strategy
- Delivers operational leadership and has full P&L responsibility for their geographical area (ie North America)
- Defines and implements operational priorities, aligned with the needs of the business, focusing on efficient and cost effective practices, programs and services, adding value to clients
- Responsible for all day-to-day management and operations decisions, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and maintain service excellence
- Manages the regional operations team building robust capability and appropriate succession and development of the team. Facilitates open and effective communication to optimise delivery of objectives and maximise team performance
- Supports Group safety vision, objectives and associated initiatives, ensuring the HSEEA culture is promoted and visible, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Drives and owns employee communication and engagement locally, ensuring this is aligned with overall Group communication and engagement plans, and delivered in a culturally appropriate manner
- Creates an organizational culture which fosters innovation and collaboration, continuous improvement and change
- Ensures integrity and compliance of all management and fiscal reporting, working closely with Finance and Administration function to ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and adhered to
- Represents the organisation on applicable government and trade body activity and relationships
- Responsible for overseeing and monitoring the financial expenditures of the region within the authorised regional budget
- Identifies and assesses principal business risks for the region and ensures that these are being monitored and managed
- Ensures that the region maintains high ethical standards and social responsibility wherever it does business
- Ensures specific internally established control systems and authorities are in place and adhered to
- Fosters an environment which encourages employees to develop and maximise potential and improve skills
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline preferred (primarily Mechanical or Chemical)
- Post-graduate business degree is a plus, but not required
Job Specific Experience:
- Experience and competence in operationally focused management roles within an international organisation
- Demonstrable track record in P&L management in a customer focused role
- The position requires experience in integrating and coordinating diverse areas of management (design, applications engineering, project management, procurement, quality assurance, quality control, and project control)
- Demonstrable commercial acumen and credibility including negotiations
- Knowledge of Corporate governance and decision making
- Understanding of financial performance and ability to articulate it
